Why Figs on a Plate?

In 2009, David Chang had the audacity to proclaim: “There’s only a handful of restaurants that are manipulating food…every restaurant in San Francisco is serving figs on a plate with nothing on it.” As a new San Franciscan and an amateur food-lover, I take extreme offense to this. In this blog I am highlighting the unique and delectable food culture that makes San Francisco the culinary jewel that it is and will show that the city is so much more than just "figs on a plate."
